Qualifying standards of 1:36:00 (M) and 1:48:00 (W). The 20K Championships serve as the qualifiers (Olympic Trials) for the Olympic Games every 4th year (2012, 2016, 2020...) The year prior to the Olympic Games is the Pan American Games. The World Track & Field Championships occurs the year before and the year after the Olympic Games.
